Alot of folk art, especially in the Pacific, Aboriginal and Americas were very primitive. Figures werent very realistc, not alot of tone or shading and colours were more imaginative. This makes them more interesting to look at though, art is about creating what the individual see's, it proposes are rare insight into someones mind. Not to say I dont like the Mona Lisa, but its exactly what we see all the time in the streets and shops and at home.
