Hocks is talented in painting, directing and photography, in his images he combines all three with the main subject himself. Showing strange imagery which he photographs and then paints with oils, he is a master of all his talents. What I find surreal about these images is the colour, at first you can't tell they are painted but get a feeling that something is different, a small subtlety. I don't think I will be able to paint my pictures but I can experiment with different light sources, different cameras and film to find some way of creating a strange look to my photographs.
